On November 10th, President and CEO Joe Broking met with Labrador West community leaders at the Menihek Nordic Ski Club that included Mayors and Councillors from both the Towns of Wabush and Labrador, Executive of the Labrador West Chamber of Commerce, MHA Jordan Brown, and Tacora Senior Management.
As the newly appointed President and CEO, Mr. Broking shared his vision for Tacora based on its core values of safety, teamwork, determination, winning and sustainability. As a member of the Labrador West community, Tacora will be a significant contributor to the economy of the region through its valued workforce and procurement activities. Investment in the Scully operation, its employees and the community ensures that Tacora will be sustainable for decades to come. We have the resource, we have the people, and we have the vision! Broking openly shared that “Tacora’s three greatest assets are people, people, and people!”
During the meet & greet, Tacora Resources presentedthe “Come Home to Wabush 2022” committee with a $25,000.00 sponsorship to support the event in July 2022. Given the history of the Scully Mine and its association with the Town of Wabush, Tacora is proud to support and be involved in this community event. Two members of the Come Home to Wabush 2022 committee, Dawn Volpatti and Jim Dobbin, were present to accept the donation.
“This donation from Tacora allows us to greatly expand our schedule of events so that we can provide the residents of Wabush and the Labrador West region with an even better experience at Come Home to Wabush 2022. Our hope is that more former residents who live in other areas will be encouraged to come take in all the events we can now offer, breathing life back into many COVID-weary families, friends and the community”- Dawn Volpatti, Come Home to Wabush 2022 Committee
