As a company, we have incredible potential – and that starts with our people. Over the past year, I’ve been proud to see the skill, resilience, and commitment that define the Tacora team. We’re building on that foundation and continuing to invest in the long-term health of the business – and the communities we call home.

Introducing Brian Penney

Leading with purpose, experience, and a clear vision for Tacora’s future, last fall, Brian Penney officially stepped into the role of President and CEO of Tacora Resources. Over the past several months, he’s been quietly but actively at work – strengthening operations, connecting with teams, listening to community partners, and laying the groundwork for long-term growth. Today we’re proud to share more about the leadership guiding us forward.

With decades of experience in the mining and resource sector, Brian brings a proven track record of operational excellence, collaborative leadership, and strategic vision. Prior to joining Tacora, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Baffinland Iron Mines beginning in 2016. He previously held the role of Chief Operating Officer at Alderon Iron Ore and held a number of senior leadership positions at the Iron Ore Company of Canada, where he led multi-site teams and consistently delivered strong results in complex mining environments.

Since joining Tacora, Brian has focused on aligning the company’s day-to-day operations with a renewed long-term vision – one that emphasizes safety, sustainability, efficiency, and community partnership. He’s made it a priority to build strong relationships with employees, Indigenous and community partners, and stakeholders, believing that good business is built on respect, transparency, and accountability.

With deep personal ties to Labrador West through over 15 years experience in the region, Brian is no stranger to the realities – and opportunities – of resource-based industries in northern and rural regions. He brings both a global outlook and a grounded, practical approach to leadership, informed by time spent on the ground with operations teams as much as in the boardroom.

As we look ahead, Brian remains focused on strengthening Tacora’s position as a responsible and resilient resource company – one that prioritizes people, performance, and progress.

We’re proud to have him leading the way.
